The Challenge

CDF Distributors sells commercial doors with interconnected choices across door types, frames, hardware, finishes, and add-ons. Turning those choices into a valid quote required product knowledge, pricing logic, and several operational handoffs.

The team needed more than a standalone quote form. The product had to guide configuration, apply CDF's business rules, create a professional quote, and continue into follow-up, payment, order management, and accounting.

The Product Decision

Infitics designed the experience as one connected operational platform: a customer-facing 12-step door designer paired with the back-office capabilities needed to manage the resulting lead, quote, payment, and order.

A custom pricing engine applies CDF's rules as customers make choices. That keeps the domain logic inside the system and allows the customer experience and internal workflow to use the same source of truth.

12-Step Configurator Detail

The door designer guides users through a structured configuration flow:

  1. Door type and application selection
  2. Size and dimension specification
  3. Material and gauge selection
  4. Frame type and preparation options
  5. Hardware package configuration
  6. Finish and color selection
  7. Fire rating and compliance options
  8. Accessories and add-ons
  9. Real-time pricing review
  10. Instant PDF quote generation
  11. Online payment processing
  12. Order confirmation and tracking

Key Engineering Decisions

  • Guide complexity: break configuration into a clear sequence instead of exposing the full product model at once
  • Centralize business rules: use one pricing and compatibility model across the customer and internal experiences
  • Connect the whole workflow: carry configuration data into quotes, follow-up, payment, orders, and shipment status
  • Integrate the systems of record: connect QuickBooks for accounting and Stripe for online payment processing
  • Give each user the right view: provide a customer account portal and a sales management dashboard

The Outcome

The strongest published evidence is operational and client-attributed: CDF's CEO describes a connected system spanning lead generation, quotes, follow-up, and payment. Percentage performance claims are intentionally omitted until their baselines and measurement records are approved.

"The door builder and quote system completely automated our process from lead generation to payment processing. What used to take hours now happens automatically. The software handles everything — quotes, follow-ups, payments. It's exactly what we needed."
